Mutual Evaluation – Kingdom of Lesotho (July 2022 – September 2023)

The Kingdom of Lesotho is currently undergoing the Second Round of Mutual Evaluation on Money Laundering (ML), Terrorist Financing (TF) and Proliferation Financing (PF). The Mutual Evaluation assesses the Lesotho’s compliance to international standards (40 Financial Action Task Force (FATF) Recommendations) in the fight against ML, TF and PF as set by the FATF. The Second Round of Mutual Evaluation assesses both the Technical Compliance and Effective Compliance. The First Round of Mutual Evaluation was conducted in 2010 with the Mutual Evaluation Report for the Kingdom of Lesotho adopted in Mauritius in September 2011.

 

The Mutual Evaluation is conducted by experts from Eswatini, Kenya, Malawi, Rwanda, South Africa, Zambia, Zimbabwe and ESAAMLG Secretariat in Tanzania. As part of the Mutual Evaluation, Lesotho will host the Assessment Team for on-site visit from the 17th November to the 7th December 2022. The Assessment Team will present the Mutual Evaluation Report of Lesotho which will be discussed and adopted in August/September 2023 during Task Force of Senior Officials Meeting in Botswana.
