The Eastern and Southern African Anti Money Laundering Group (ESAAMLG) Council of Ministers formally adopted the Mutual Evaluation Report (MER) of the Kingdom of Lesotho in September 2023, in Kasane, Republic of Botswana. The Mutual Evaluation (ME) was conducted by experts from Eswatini, Kenya, Malawi, Rwanda, South Africa, Zambia, Zimbabwe and ESAAMLG Secretariat in Tanzania.
The MER analyses Lesotho’s level of compliance with the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) 40 Recommendations. The ME assessed both the technical and effectiveness compliance and provides recommendations on how to strengthen Lesotho’s AML/CFT system. The detailed MER is published below.
