Commemoration of FIU Day in Lesotho 9 June 2026
Commemoration will highlight the role of the FIU in protecting Lesotho’s financial system and strengthening global cooperation against financial crime.
The Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) of Lesotho will join Financial Intelligence Units around the world in marking International FIU Day on 9 June. The annual observance commemorates the establishment of the Egmont Group of FIUs in 1995 at the Egmont Palace in Brussels.
International FIU Day highlights the importance of cooperation among FIUs in promoting secure information sharing, supporting international partnerships, and strengthening the global response to money laundering, terrorism financing, and related financial crimes.
In Lesotho, the commemoration will include activities aimed at raising awareness among the public and key stakeholders about the mandate of the FIU and its role in safeguarding the country’s financial system from criminal abuse. The activities will also provide an opportunity to strengthen engagement with institutions that play a critical role in the prevention and detection of financial crime.
Through this commemoration, the FIU of Lesotho reaffirms its commitment to working with domestic and international partners to protect the integrity of the financial system and to promote greater public understanding of the importance of combating financial crime
